What troubleshooting steps should be followed if a netgear arlo camera is unable to detect alarm?
Is your arlo unable to detect alarm? If yes, then here’s the
list of responsible reasons along with few troubleshooting steps that will help
in identifying and addressing the concern.
Incorrect positioning of Arlo could be one of the main
reasons that lead to the failure of alarm detection feature. So, whenever a
camera fails to detect the alarming pattern then user must check and ensure the
camera is placed within the alarm detecting range. If possible users should try
to decrease the distance between arlo security camera and the alarm. Aside for
this, there are many other factors that lead to the failure of alarm detection
feature. Few of those are listed as follows:
1.
If the alarm is unable to generate T3/T4
alarming patterns.
2.
If more than one alarm continues to beep at a
single instance of time.
3.
If the alarm sound gets followed by its echoes.
4.
When another noise occurs around the area which
sounds much louder than the alarming sound.
In order to avoid the failure of alarm detection feature,
users must ensure the carbon monoxide or smoke detector is compatible enough to
work with their arlo security camera. For this users should go through a carbon
monoxide or smoke detector test. Before executing the test, users must configure
their camera to armed mode. After this, user may refer to the following set of
steps for checking the range of camera and the working of CO/ Smoke detector.
1.
Open the Arlo application installed on your
internet connected mobile device.
2.
Sign in to your arlo account to access the
“Settings” menu.
3.
Click on the option for “Smart Notifications”
available within settings menu.
4.
Specify the camera for which you want to run the
smoke detector test.
5.
Check if the option for “Other audio” is
disabled.
6.
Exit out of the arlo application.
7.
During the test users should maintain an
atmosphere of no movement or zero activity within the viewing range of their
camera. While testing if any movement occurring within the viewing range of
camera that this could lead to a confusion if the alarm sound was detected or
not.
8.
Turn the smoke detector alarm to ON state for a
minimum of 30 seconds. Users can do this by pressing down the button labeled as
“Test.”
§
If a user is unable to produce smoke detector
alarm sound for at least 30 seconds, then the accuracy of test result will be
decreased. In case of inaccurate test result, users should simply place their
camera within 2 feet of distance from the smoke detector alarm.
§
Even after pressing the test button if the smoke
detector is unable to release T3 or T4 alarm sequence for at least 30 seconds
and produces other sounds, then this could also lead to decreased test
accuracy. In order to correct the releasing of T3/T4 alarm pattern users may go
through the instructions provided in the manual that comes with the alarm.
9.
If the alarm continuously generates sound for a
minimum of 30 seconds along with T3/T4 alarm sequence then users will be able
to get following test results.
§
One Alert push notification in an audio format
will be received on the registered mobile device. The notification will be
labeled as “Arlo has detected a smoke or CO alarm on (name of your arlo
security camera)” and a short video clip named “Smoke or CO alarm” will be
added to the library of Arlo application. It means the arlo has been placed
correctly within the alarm detecting range and the alarm detection feature is
working correctly with your camera.
§
Users won’t be able to receive push notification
for audio alert, but will be able to find a recorded clip labeled as “Audio
resulted from smoke test.” It means that the camera is correctly placed within
the smoke detecting range but was unable to identify the alarming pattern as
Smoke alarm. it could be due to several reasons like: Smoke or CO detector
failed to release T3/T4 alarming pattern continuously, due to the presence of
other background noise in the area, or due to compatibility issues related to
alarm detecting feature. In such a
situation users should try to execute the test again.
§
If a user did not received the push notification
for audio alert as well as no recorded clip in the library, then it means that
the camera is placed quite far from the alarm. So, before going through the
test, users should try to place the arlo camera close to the alarm.
1.
The alarm should be reset frequently when the
floor plan is changed or Arlo camera is moved.
So this is all users should do whenever arlo camera is
unable to detect alarm. Hope you find it helpful in correctly configuring back
arlo camera to detect alarm sounds. For more such help, kindly visit arlo
